This book is much more readable than the Sybex book. Worth noting: The five hardest questions for each domain from the 11th Hour book seem to be taken from the end of chapter questions in this book. If you have been trudging through Sybex or Shon Harris, try this book instead. If I did want to keep a CISSP book for reference, this book (other than the CISSP CBK) would be the one.Chapter 4 has the secret sauce for mapping equipment to the OSI model. This chapter would probably help people studying for CASP too. And, if your previous test prep experience includes reading Darril Gibson for Security+, then the CISSP Study Guide 3rd edition is for you!

I have been studying on and off for the CISSP for about 3 years now and I have two different versions of the Shon Harris book. I purchased this book two weeks before my scheduled test as my final study material. It delivered. I was able to quickly read through each chapter and it was thorough and to the point. There was no fluff or jokes, perfect for what I was looking for.I recommend this book if you have actual infosec experience and just want a good book without fluff to get you through this test. It covers everything you need from the SANS Course for a fraction of the cost.

I used Eric Conrad's CISSP Study Guide along with the CISSP course from Cybrary to pass on my first attempt. For testing, I found the Official Study Guide (and practice questions) to be horrible so I used the CISSP Pocket Prep app, which helped me to focus on the areas that I needed the most work on.Overall, this book is on-point and concise, which overcomes the problem of information overload that I found with the Shon Harris book and Official CISSP Study guide. Pay attention to the questions at the end of each chapter as they are relevant to the exam. Don't expect the exact questions you will see on the exam, but it provides the core concepts so you can pass the exam.I took off one start because there were a few concepts missing in this book that were on the exam. Kelly Handerhan's superb videos filled in the gaps. I only found questions that referenced material I wasn't familiar with, which I have to chalk up to a test question.

I used this book along with the "CISSP Official (ISC2) Practice Tests". These are the only two resources I used. I studied until knew the information contained in these two books very well, and I passed the first time.

Purchased this book to go along with a CISSP prep course that I was co-leading on recommendation of the other instructor. I wish I had used it when I was studying for the exam. Very clear and the helpful test hints are right on from what I can determine.Students seem to agree - Eric makes the topics readable and focuses on the main points.No prep guide is sufficient in and of itself so don't expect that, but if you have completed some studying/training and mostly understand the domains, I believe this book can help you fill in the gaps and know where to read further.

If you bought the Eric Conrad 11th hour then you will see a lot of familiarities between the two books. I saw maybe like 50 pages that seemed to be identical to the 11th hour but this book really goes in-depth and fortifies your learning with real-world examples that you can take into the test to help remember pieces of information that is testable. If you're looking for more granular detail on the topics in the CISSP exam then this is your book. I like to always remember that you need to read, watch and listen to presentations to fully grasp all the technologies that are testable in the CISSP exam.

Passed the exam on 1st attempt. This book is easy to read. The factoids (critical information for a topic) are well summarized without the noise you typically see in other technical/professional study book. It is concise, 600 or so pages vs. 1000+ in others. The authors are good, or at least made an effort, at distilling the key information that one need to know for CISSP exam. While I cannot say 100% that it was this book since I also used the Sybex 7th Official Study Guide and the 11th Hour along with my bootcamp training class, it definitely helps!

If you're looking for a concisely "no-fluff" written guide for the exam. Look no further. What this book lacks in word count it 100% makes up for it with streamlined content. Kudos to the author! This is my go-to book for CISSP information and not a doctoral thesis.

John Rich's remarkable book charts his journey as a doctor seeking to understand an epidemic of violence among young, urban African-American men. As he begins to interview some of the gunshot victims in the hospital where he works, Rich struggles to separate the complex, frightened, traumatized kids he gets to know from their stereotypes--in the media and even in the language of his fellow doctors and nurses--as unthinking monsters who are to blame for their own injuries. One of the great strengths of this book is Rich's compassion for and willingness to learn from the men he interviews. Never excusing violence, Rich uncovers the unfortunate logic in what is usually seen merely as "senseless." As compelling as the stories that he gathers, Rich's own narrative is inexorably entwined with theirs. As he movingly states, "it is only when we are transformed to embrace the humanity and defend the dignity of these young men...that we will engage them as full partners in our efforts to bring about healing, hope, and change." This is important reading for those in the helping/healing professions and all of us who hope to bring about that change Rich describes so eloquently.

Fantastic insight on how the inner city youth has a tough road ahead of them from an early age. Through Dr. Rich' encounters we see that perhaps the stereotypes of both mass media and music not only guide urban youth down the wrong roads but help others in securing permanent stereotypes of these kids turned criminals. In many cases, there is no other way for them, especially in cash-strapped cities that have almost no budget for outreach programs.

After reading a copy that I'd borrowed from my local library, I purchased a copy for my twenty year-old son. I only hope he reads and benefits from it!

Wrong Place, Wrong Time looks at the effects of inner-city violence through the lives of young African Americans in Boston and Philadelphia who have already been victims of shootings or other crimes. It examines the varying effects of trauma on their lives while looking at the cultures in which they live, and their chances for continued survival. Written by an African American physician.

Great book, reading it for a public health class.

This book helped me realize that the problem of violence is so much more complex than those in my middle class bubble understand.

As an educator, I highly recommend this book to teachers or anyone who works with urban youth. It can be used as a text to help students (middle school and up) critically examine issues of race, gender, violence, and inequality. And it can help youth workers develop a deeper understanding of the experiences and perspectives of many young men of color in urban communities, especially since the stories in the book are told largely by the young men themselves.

I found this book to be well done. In my work in the addictions field, I came to several conclusions described by Dr. Rich. I would like to utilize this text in a social work class that includes the analysis of environment on behavior.

About the Author

Donna Joe is a member of the Sechelt Indian Band on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. As a child she used to go fishing with her mother and father, Marjorie and Cyprian August. In 1953 she began attending residential school and went on to complete a Bachelor of Education at the University of British Columbia (NITEP). She went on to earn a master's degree and found work with the Sechelt School District and Sechelt Indian Band as Supervisor of shashishalhem (the Sechelt language). Donna and her husband Vern have three children and five grandchildren.

Excerpt:Long, long ago, a boy lived in a village called Kalpilin, the winter home of the Sechelt Nation. The boy's people lived in great longhouses along the seashore. It was a good place to live but the people often went hungry during the long winter months. In those days so long ago the salmon did not fill the creeks and rivers of Sechelt.One beautiful summer day, the boy decided to escape the heat by going for a swim in the sea beside kalpilin. As he swam out from the shore, a giant chum salmon seized him and pulled him down under the sea to the country of the salmon people.Although the country of the salmon people was beneath the sea, it was dry and the salmon people walked about the same as people do above the sea. Everyone lived in cedar plank houses and all along the beach their canoes were lined up in a row.The giant chum salmon took the boy to his home and made him a slave. The boy was fascinated by these very special people and took careful note of everything they did.Some women made cedar root baskets and hats. Others made shredded cedar bark capes, skirts and mats. Some men carved house poles, welcome poles, feast bowls and dugout canoes from the wood of the cedar.In the winter, when the work of the summer was done and the longhouses were full of the salmon they had dried and smoked, they celebrated with singing and dancing for weeks at a time. Each house had its own singers and dancers. This was also the time for storytelling. Their food in winter months was salmon which had been smoked and dried the summer before.THE SECHELT NATIONThe Sechelt Nation, a division of the Coast Salish family of First Nations peoples, originally occupied the southern portion of what is now known as the Sunshine Coast, from Gower Point near Gibsons to Saltery Bay, south of Powell River. At time of contact the shishalh (Sechelt people) occupied some 80 scattered village sites divided into four main tribal groupings, the xenichen, the t'sunay, the tuwankw and the sxixus. A populous and peaceful people, the Sechelt enjoyed a comparatively prosperous existence owing to their benign climate and an abundance of salmon, herring, and other food resources. Estimates of original population range from 5,000 to 20,000, but by the time of the first official census in 1881, Sechelt population had plunged to a mere 167, mostly as a result of introduced diseases.Father Paul Durieu of the Oblate missionaries converted the Sechelt to Catholicism by 1865 and founded a central mission at the present Sechelt village on Trail Bay in 1868. The modern Sechelt are one of Canada's most progressive First Nations groups, having been involved in the operation of a deep-sea fishing vessel, a commercial airline, a salmon hatchery, an office and cultural complex, a large gravel-mining project, and other business enterprises. In 1986 the Sechelt gained international notice when their long campaign to gain control of their own affairs culminated in the successful passage of Bill C-93, The Sechelt Indian Band Self-Government Act, making them the first band in Canada to achieve native self-government. In 1999, the band followed this by signing an agreement in principle for settling its land claim with federal and provincial governments. As of 1999, the Sechelt band numbered 1003 members, 448 of whom lived on band lands.

This book is a very easy to use reference book. It should be called Quick and Easy Lookup Medical Transcription Guide: Do's and Don'ts. It is just an amazing book. I purchased this on Amazon not expecting too much because I have the 3rd edition of AAMT Book of Style and also the Workbook which are both excellent, but for a few cents (yes cents), I decided to try this. However, to my surprise it follows the same standards as the AAMT Book of Style, and it even has quite a few samples of medical documents. It is a very good reference book and you can find anything you want in the blink of an eye. This will be added to my library of MT books and will be used as much as the others.Let us not forget the Do's and Don'ts because this is a great aspect of the book. Just think of a MT question and the answer is before you. I know I am reapeating myself but I embrace anything that will make my life easier and this is one of them.

I wish this was out text book for my class. So full of much needed information and small enough to take to work. A wonderful guide even though it's a little older. I highly recommend this book.

This is like a bible for the medical transcriber. When you do diversified work in the medical field sometimes you forget the format to use and this book gives that to you in easy reference form. There are so many other things this book offers in a concise way. It comes highly recommended.

This book is awesome for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, it's very comprehensive--containing grammar, spelling, medical transcription-specific info, frequently misused words & sound-alikes, lab values, and much more. This is my bible, even though it hasn't been updated for a while and is definitely due. I can't wait for the new version to come out!The spiral-bound version is a real bonus because it's so much easier to use and not lose your place.

I used this book in my medical transcription class in college. We used it alot this semester and i learned things that i didnt know before. the book itself was in good condition.

Do NOT purchase anything for Medical Transcription!! Please!! This is an almost defunct career choice. As a 37+ year veteran in this field, almost every job has been absorbed by the new computer policies of the Obamacare regime. Almost every transcription job has been cut. There are no jobs, so it's not wise to invest in any tools to do this job. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on anything related to this field. It is just about impossible to get a job and there are people with YEARS of experience all over the country who are out of work. I know of one facility that went from 40 transcriptions, down to 3, and that is just one facility!!

I am a new MT and have found this book very helpful. The table of contents (listed alphabetically - nice) is on the back cover that folds over, which I have found easy to use. I LOVE that it is spiral bound, as it only takes up half as much space on my desk. It also includes appendices for items such as problem words, genus and species names, commonly used abbreviations, etc.

I absolutely loved reading Dirty Talk by Eric Monroe . This book was a magnificent read that i couldn't put down once i started. The story was exciting and full of thrills. The characters were phenomenally written with undeniable chemistry. I loved every minute of reading this book. So I had a chance to buy this book and read it and I believe it is one of the best sources to prepare you for CASPer. It has step by step information about the test itself, the challenges of it and how to overcome and ace it. Make sure you dedicate enough time because this book is very detailed but if you are a skim reader, you can quickly go over the early chapters and then focus more on the chapters the specifically discuss the ways to do well in CASPer. I definitely recommend this book to everyone taking this test.

I have been using bemo for my dental school interview prep, and it is really very helpful and made a difference with me. It helped me to frame my answers and get confidence. I did a 2 hour mock interview with them too one day before my interview, and really the mentor put her hand on my weaknesses with honest advices to improve. I really recommend bemo for everyone.

The book has useful and has good strategies that should be implemented for the CASPer exam. It also gives a nice breakdown of how the CASPer is scored and other important details about the exam. Highly recommend students preparing for CASPer and even the MMI!

Great guide, one of the few out there, with amazing sample scenarios and samples answers. There aren't many samples answers available so it was very helpful to have a standard to look at. Easy read.

I love the book so much. It will even help with you MMI or panel interview. Tips in here are extremely helpful, and the questions they ask are very representative. The framework is so clever. really helps me organize my thoughts so I have something nice to write even when I don't know anything about the topic. It really improved my score I believe.The best part is all the useful example answers. I purchased the book in addition to signing up their prep program. Super helpful feedback. Love it.

I got this product recently and really liked it!I've actually written the Casper exam before but have to rewrite it again for new applications.I found this book really cares about students doing well. The preparation and sample questions help prepare you very well and seems very similar to what the Casper exam is like.This book helps you out A LOT and helps you find ways to respond in order to get a maximum of points.Highly recommend!

Definitely found this book helpful while preparing for my MMI interview; it provides comprehensive information on what types of MMI questions you may face, strategies, and how to structure your response (helpful given that there's no specific questions/scenarios you can truly prepare for). Easy to read too. If you buy this, I recommend preparing for on all the different types of questions listed in this book and practice early!
