This is a great addition to your collection of Psalms, and I have found it very useful for Lectio or for prayer groups. If you are occasionally overwhelmed by some of the graphic descriptions of animosity you often find in the Psalms, this text balances them out very nicely indeed, and gives you a new appreciation of the emotional depth and universality they express (some authors that when the Psalms speak of hatred or revenge, they are actually speaking of our own mental environment and not to external enemies). Still, there are times when expressions like "May they dash your babies against a rock" or "There is not one good person left" are neither welcome nor productive, IMHO, and this includes mixed company like prayer groups.On the other hand some of the language gets a bit cloying at times, and some of the translations seem a bit stretched, so I would suggest using it in conjunction with other translations (I read a Psalm each day, and find it is a welcome addition for some of the more hostile Psalms or emotions). It's just a nice translation to read when you are feeling overwhelmingly positive and want something to help you along.

"Yeah though I walk...through the valley of the shadow of fear... "As an interfaith chaplain, I care about lifting up providence and a personal connection with a loving Higher Power. These psalms sometimes substitute "Beloved" (as great Sufi poets do...) for the more common and theistic "Lord". For me, supporting people of any belief at the end-of-life, I tend to go to the basics - i.e. love is the boss of us. These thoughtful re-interpretations of the psalms speaks to the core of Judeo-Christian-Muslim traditions...i.e. LOVE. I recommend it highly.Rev Eleesabeth M. While the psalms in this book are written maintain the essence of the original psalms, many of the original psalms sound rather vengeful and hate-filled, perhaps that more closely reflected the overall state of consciousness of people of those times - not that there aren't many people who feel that way these days, but these days more people seem to be spiritually awakened or at least have a desire to overcome their base impulses and truly follow the voice of the spirit within, the voice that always guides along the path of the Light, along the path of Love, along the path of realization that there is only ONE spirit expressing through everything.To give you a taste for the psalms you can find in this book, here is the beginning of the psalm 107:"We give thanks to You,who are the Source of Love;whose Light shines forththroughout the universe!Come, awaken our heartsthat we might do your work,For, without you, we can do nothing;'tis your Love that loves through us."Ultimately, your success with prayers of any kind will come not from mechanically repeating something that someone else has written, but by looking into your heart and by speaking from your heart and in that respect, you may end up altering the wording even of the psalms you find in this book to fit the prayers that live in your heart.Just as the psalm says:"O, that you may learn to seewith your heart,to hear and think with your heart, as well!"And perhaps the most important point:"O peoples of the Light,Awaken to the knowledge that lives within you!"And to conclude this in the Spirit of Oneness(and the true spirit of the Bible, the very essence of itand those who proclaim to be the followers of jesus Christ,and those who call themselves spiritual,regardless of their religion or lack of it):"And know yourself! I adore this book! In the past I have thought many of the Psalms were irrelevant to modern people because of the many references to "enemies" and all the battles and violent behaviiors they expressed.But this book helped me understand that such references are indeed very relevant to today's people when they are understood as the "enemies" we all harbor within: fears, doubts, raging emotions etc. etc. It really helped me to look more deeply within and understand the "battles" that rage under all of our civillized demeanors!

I can’t believe we are on book three with more of the same story telling. I read book one and was okay with it because I thought hey there is going to be book two. After reading book two I was thouroghly pissed because it was depressing as hell. Then I buy book three (with $30 less in my pocket) thinking the outcome is going to be different or have some resolution only to be told wait for book four. I hope with her track record she don’t wind up killing Ethic because I won’t buy another book. So $40+ and if I’m not entertained because the author is dangling crap for more money, again, I will not buy another one of her books. This story was not that good. It was long and drawn out for what. By the way, who is Messiah?

I loveeeeeee Ashley but this book was just nothing but words. I wasted my money on this one! It’s the same as book 2 but way more wording that makes you wonder like when will she get to the point... Ethic is to miserable, everyone is to miserable. Ethic series need a new plot, more enemies, more happiness, and some babies. Maybe new characters is needed but it was boring. Hopefully the last book will be way better! Yes I will continue to support Ashley because she’s an amazing author I think this book was just pointless tho nothing happened that made you want to read another one.

This book was so dope but Ashley is slowly killing me!! I don’t want to wait until 2019 😩😩😭😭I love the fight in Ethic and Alani, they’re trying so hard to get to the other side of this turmoil. I was so emotional throughout this book; some chapters I cried all the way through SMDH 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️chapters 9 & 10 was especially hard for me. 😢 Can Ethic & Alani just be happy??? They have struggled so much it’s so painful to witness! My unhealthy attachment to All things Ethic, Alani, Bella, Easy, Morgan, Nannie, & Messiah are going to land me in the crazy house 🤪🤪. Ashley Antoinette did an amazing job as usual the words just leap from the pages it was so good I think I highlighted the entire book lol 😂This all consuming Morgan & Messiah thing is a whole other mess and I can’t wait to find out what he’s hiding.And as if this entire book wasn’t awesome enough Ms. Ashley Antoinette had the audacity to have a bomb ass playlist CTFU 🥰 I love it.

I didn’t like this book series at all. I’m still a reader of Ashley’s work however, it’s like now entering into her claimed beautiful and rare mind is more miserable than a blessing. It’s not a joy to read these alleged conveying emotions books. What happen to the more authentic storytelling? Ethic is not a man to be with and I think it’s sickening that many ladies want a piece of him. Alani is bipolar and there wasn’t really a story here honestly just stepped on recycled recurrences of another character like all the ladies in her solo projects. There was also to much back and forth and in the head talk. This entire story from book one to three was sick and disturbing. I wouldn’t necessarily say depressing. I feel like the author is trying to hard to make her writing fit in with today’s topics and it’s taking away from her authenticity. Also, you can’t put all Black Womens pain in the same box. I feel like this story was promoting oppression and kind of manipulative and deceptive in a way. I will still purchase part 4 but this story just makes me wonder if Ashley needs counseling in a way as is she crying out for help in her story’s. It’s just really disturbing. Mental health is not a joke and for example, Alani shooting Ethic isn’t something to laugh about. I feel like this book is promoting toxicity and never addressed the forgiveness factor but was drawn out on the fact that Alani couldn’t forgive Ethic. There was tell and no show in the story.

Ashley my God. I'm in real tears. I had to say a prayer for you after this book. A heartfelt prayer bc your soul was definitely on these pages. That ending. Had me boohooing. How are you this great?! How is this book this incredible? The passion felt while reading this book....I can't. Bravo. I've read just about about all your books (I'm missing a couple but I'll rectify that soon) and this is by far your best. Lord knows I love Love Burn but Ethic 3 left me with just a shell.

I finished 15 minutes ago and have been just staring at my phone in utter sadness because it is over! Ashley!!! WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS TO US!!?? My emotions cannot take it! My husband is in here looking at me all crazy like someone physically did something to me because for the past 2 days I have cried and literally just started yelling "NOOOOO" seemingly out of no where. THEN this summary you gave about the series ending and not knowing how yet, has sent me into an emotional place that I didn't even know a book could reach. Like HOW SWAY!? And WHY does it have to end? We all love this series! We all love THEM! Let's just do like Keith Sweat says and "Make it last for forevuuuuuh". Come on book bestie, what do ya say? 😁

This book follows the early history and final days of a true American patriot and hero. This excellent book is organized into four sections (or books).The first book (Racing) covers chapters one through five and deals with the early days of Eddie and his father and mother who were German immigrants beginning a new life in the United States. Life was very hard at that time. When Eddie's father died the young man had to take over the leadership of his family. Fortunately, Eddie's mother was a very strong person. This section also tells of Eddie Rickenbacker's first introduction to cars and racing. This is where he first became well-known for his courage on the race track. The second book (section-Flying) focuses on the first flying experience of young Eddy and his first introduction to learning how to fly the early death traps they called planes. He became an expert pilot. The third book (section-Fighting) deals with World War 1 and America's entry into that war with the British and the French fighting Germany. Eddie and a few other expert pilots became known as "Ace Pilots" in his 94th Aero squadron. The last section (Immortality) deals with the incredible courage and durability of Eddie Rickenbacker. Not only had he survived car crashes in his racing days, and his close calls flying the "death traps" , but he also survived a plane crash in the ocean. When all hope seemed to be lost after many days at sea in a small life boat Eddie again showed his leadership and courage by taking charge until they were rescued.To be honest, this short review cannot do justice to this wonderful and inspiring book. I now know more about the legendary and courageous Eddie Rickenbacker than most people. This book in my opinion is a must read for anyone who desires to see what true enduring courage looks like in a person. He was an authentic American hero we should all remember.Rating: 5 Stars. Man, what a life this guy had. He had more than nine lives for sure and you will understand why when you finish reading this book.I purchased this book because I wanted to learn about America's first Ace of Aces and what made him so good. Just about every biography starts off with the mandatory beginning of explaining the persons childhood which I always find a little boring and this book is no exception. But once you get through that and into how he started his race car days there is not a dull moment in the book or in his amazing life. I especially ordered this book so that I could learn more about his crash in the pacific during WWII and how he set the survival at sea record for a little while until another now famous Louis Zamperini surpassed it just a little while later in the war.The number one thing that I learned from this book was that Rickenbacker was not just a wild crazy former race car driver but also a natural born leader. My favorite high-light from the book was:Throughout history the best-prepared fighters in all of combat’s endlessly changing forms have faltered, stumbled, and failed without strong leadershipI highly recommend this book.

Another Thoene good book. I'm looking forward to others in this series.

Plot twists actually worked. I don't often get surprised, but some parts of this book actually managed that. Mostly, it's very predictable, but the bird's funny, the plot keeps moving, and the characters are likable if not totally endearing.The Thoenes haven't won all those writing awards for no reason. I don't think this is their best series, but it's all right.

This book reads very much like reading someones journal about their travels. Very little is actual dialogue between the characters. The covers of all three of the books display a woman prominently, but do not be fooled. They are mere background players to the man telling the story. This, and the other two, are great from a history aspect of America in the 1800s, but not much else. I like to see more interaction between the characters and not just what seem like recollections of the event from the leading male.
