About the Author

Darrell Young (DigitalDarrell) is a full-time author and professional photographer with a background in information technology engineering. Would not own my D7100 or D750 without these books from Darrell Young. Invaluable guides.

I recently purchased a Nikon D750 after a 20 year gap in SLR use. I "gave away" my old Canon 35 mm gear to a large and well known Nikon dealer using the small proceeds to help fund the D750. I have waited for a good quality full frame DSLR with decent tracking ability and some condescension to amateurs. Along came the D750! A shout out to DPReviews for their excellent analysis of this camera and it`s competition. My greatest fear is understanding the camera`s myriad of capabilities and of my ability to put them to use. I checked the owner`s manual and purchased a reputable field guide to the D750 but in my untutored and humble opinion Darrell Young`s Mastering the Nikon D750 blows them away. This book takes a step by step, cumulative approach to this camera system. As a beginner I don`t feel overwhelmed but rather hopeful that I am able to make slow and steady progress. Thank you Digital Darrell and thanks also to the Nikoneans Press. I will look to your publications should/when future needs arise.

I love the Mastering the Nikon series books. They are very detailed in friendly, easy to understand language. This book contains a wealth of information, not just running through the camera's features (step-by-step), but the various camera options are laid out with great detail on how, when, and why you'd use whatever option. It's amazing how much information is packed in this book.Another neat addition are the links offered for online downloadable resources/documents scattered throughout the book.I have the paperback and the digital download as well. I highly recommend this book to anyone that owns a Nikon D750.

If you only buy one instructional book on the D750, make this one the one. Very well organized with pictures of every possible screen display and when, why and how to use them all. With this guide there is no need for the owners manual although it even provides page references in the owners manual for many of the functions described in the book. I don't know how it could have been any better.

Very well written, organized, and illustrated book. Of the 566 pages the first 426 pages cover are for the most part a duplication of the Nikon user manual and what menu settings are available along with recaps of the settings the author uses personally. For someone whose first digital camera or first Nikon digital camera purchase in the past 8 years this is useful information.As the recommendations are based on what the author shoots his preferences are naturally biased and there are not adequate explanations as to the pros and cons of each of the settings and this is important for the reader to decide which setting is best for what they plan to photograph. For example he states that he always uses matrix metering and this is not the best choice when photographing people that are back lit or scenes where there is a lot of sky as when using wide angle lenses or a zoom lens at its wide angle setting.This also applies with his use of the auto shutter speed setting whereby the camera selects a minimum shutter speed based on the old rule of the reciprocal of the focal length of the lens. A third of the time this will be correct and the remainder of the time it will be too slow or too fast a shutter speed than is actually needed for the situation. With current cameras the resolution provided is greater than that of 35mm film and so camera or subject motion blur is more likely to be visible. It also is dependent on the skill of the photographer and how they hold the camera and release the shutter.The author advises throughout the book that readers try different settings to see how they work. This is excellent advice. In particular as with the settings information there are gaps and inaccuracies. One example is the Auto EV setting that can enable users to change the EV with a command dial instead of using the EV button on the top of the camera. Not so simple as that actually as this setting only shows EV adjustment is being done and not whether the EV is positive or negative when looking through the viewfinder - unlike the change in the viewfinder display when using the EV button instead to make adjustments. This goes back to the lack of pros and cons to using different camera settings, some of which are minor and others that are major.For experienced Nikon shooter who have a recently acquired a D750 camera there is little of value in the first 426 pages. For the inexperienced shooter there is a more user friendly guide than the Nikon manual but it can also mislead novices with its subjective recommendations on camera settings. Even the new autofocus capabilities introduced by Nikon in the D750 are glossed over and the reader has not more idea of the different strengths and weaknesses of each in different situations.Anyone hoping to get additional information not provided with the Nikon user manual with respect to shooting video is going to be disappointed. Settings are covered in detail but with little reference to how they will affect the shoot or the resulting video. Information on progressive versus interlaced is incorrect with respect to shooting video as is the fps setting guidance which depends upon the region in the world where the video will be displayed on a monitor 50HZ or 60Hz which affects the viewing of video shot at 25/50 fps or at 30/60 fps.

Probably goes into too much detail about things more like a reference manual, but it certainly is comprehensive and I am working my way through the entire thing on my Kindle. Helps to understand all the camera features (such as sRGB vs. Adobe RGB) to make best use of the camera. Won't necessarily make you a better photographer, but at least the camera won't get in the way when it doesn't have to! It is more than the camera manual regurgitated.

This book walks you through the buttons, setting recommendations, menu contents, metering, exposures, white balance, etc. of the D750. Additionally, there are notes and suggested settings recommendations that help amateur photographers figure out what works for getting started before mastering every setting on the camera. Young uses laymen's terms to describe everything; all in an encouraging tone so that you do not feel like an idiot for not understanding photographic technical jargon .Good description of the main or basic elements of photography - aperture, shutter speed, image quality, focus, ISO, distortion, etc. - along with supporting photographs to illustrate the concept. The insights provided by an experienced photographer/teacher were extremely helpful.

I just recently purchased the Nikon D750 and have never owned a DSLR . Even though the factory owner's manual seems to be adequate, I decided any additional information could be helpful. Even though I haven't read through the whole book yet , I have read enough to know that it contains much valuable information that will help me as a novice to understand this complex camera .

A must have book for D750 owners. I have another book that gives all the technical setting details but this book also gives the author's own recommendations after each section and I really appreciated that.

The author, Stephen Strang, shows that many years prior to Trump’s election Christians were praying for wisdom about our next election and were acquainted with him. Some were certain God’s plan was for Donald Trump to be our next president. Trump met with a variety of Christian groups years before the election and even more so during the election. He sought and valued Christian support and input.The book describes the part Catholics, charismatics and evangelicals played in helping elect Trump. They united behind him realizing the other choice would be a disaster. Chapters on Surprising Early Supporters and on Ethnic Issues are particularly interesting. A section titled Trump the Man explores his family’s traditional background as well as Trumps beliefs and priorities. The final section gives surprising information about Trump, his supporters and his faith. The book also includes a detailed list of sources and an index. The facts in this book are well supported.Scripture says God sets up kings and removes kings. (Daniel 2:21) I did not think of this nor know what was going on behind the scenes among charismatics and evangelicals and in the heavenly realms. The book helped me realize that God actually chose Trump to be president. This is an awesome thought. We must pray for him and support him and vote for him again in 2020.

I loved this book. I realized Donald Trump was not a flawless candidate when I voted for him. But who is? I do believe having a business man was better then another politician. He knows most of the people in New York having been a democrat in the past. And growing up in New York.I also believe he was successful in his life, raised his children well, And has changed as he grew older and realized just how corrupt our country is. I believe he has had a HEART CHANGE ALSO. That is the most important reason millions of Christians voted for this man. This book tells his life story and just how God can change a persons life. In the Bible God chose many man that were not flawless to lead. I truly believe God wanted this man in office to bring our country back to him and our Christians values honored once again.

Sometimes the Lord works in strange ways. If a people pray for his help and abide by his guidance, then he will act to help them. This is the resounding lesson of the Old Testament. Millions of people were praying for a recovery from the Obama days, and for a president who would put America back on the track of honesty and common sense. But, we must not relax. The Deep State - that is, the corrupt - will not rest trying to take this country down.

If you want to know the positive side of our president and the truth then read this book. I learned alot. these are the things the network news avoids telling us. It affirms my decision that he is human and not perfect but he is the right man for the job.I am now reading his next book 'Trump aftershock.'

I am one of those people of faith in God who were extremely grateful that we, as a nation, had an actual choice that wasn't just another politician. I am so grateful for this book that has enlightened me, on a much deeper level, as to what was going on behind the scenes not only from a political point of view, but from a spiritual point of view. I voted for Donald Trump and I am so glad I did. I highly recommend this book. It gives the whole picture not just an opinion.

As a practising Kiwi Christian I have gained a better insight into current American politics and the spiritual perspective that surrounds it.

The book provided a lot of information that I do not believe people know or understand about Donald Trump. It provides a background into his religious beliefs and the lengths he went to in order to have God on his side for this election. Trump knows he doesn’t “win things” all by himself, he knows his Lord is right beside him always in the things he does. This is good to know.

A poor read. Very little meat to this book. Not a lot of factual information to back the authors claims about divine intervention relative to this past election. While I believe that there was, the author did not do enough digging to substantiate and buttress his claims.

Adam Hamilton has written a book about his travels to the places described in the four gospels in an attempt to put the life of Jesus Christ in a fresh perspective. He is successful. This book has six chapters that are based on the geography of Israel: (1) the Jordan River and the wilderness, where Jesus was baptized and tempted, (2) Capernaum, where Jesus healed, (3) the mountains, from which Jesus proclaimed the kingdom, (4) the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus calmed the storm, (5) Samaria, where Jesus associated with sinners and outcasts, and (6) Jerusalem, where Jesus experienced his final week culminating with his crucifixion and resurrection.Each chapter summarizes a part of Jesus’ ministry in a thought-provoking way, and the author inserts many photographs, facts, anecdotes and insightful analyses that help link the modern Israel to the Israel of Jesus’ time. If I had to pick the most meaningful chapter, I would pick the last chapter. The author emphasizes the importance of Holy Week by pointing out that the four Gospels devote between 20% (Luke) and 47% (John) to this week.Like many, if not all, Christians, I experience some doubt, and this chapter deals with our questions in a helpful way. Particularly intriguing is the author’s discussion with a Jewish tour guide. This tour guide loved the teachings of Jesus and everything else about Him, but was not a Christian because he could not believe in the Resurrection. The author writes that he encouraged the tour guide to continue to ponder the Resurrection’s meaning. This is a good response, but incomplete. Mr. Hamilton probably should have told his guide that Jesus claimed to be the Son of God who would be killed and resurrected (John 2:19, Matthew 16:21 and other scriptures), so embracing the teachings of Jesus inexorably leads to accepting the resurrection of Jesus Christ.It is useful to experience the video that is associated with this book. Watching the video and seeing the author show where much of the Gospel takes place, from baptism in the Jordan River to burial at the site of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, makes the events more vivid and stimulates a desire to see these sites myself. It is also helpful to encounter this material and wrestle with questions with a group, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to do that with my church this past Lenten Season.

I read this as part of a study group, so I was fortunate to be able to see the video as well. I also read the devotional during the same time. I had previously read 24 Hours That Changed the World and loved it, so I was excited to read this. Both books are excellent reading for the Lent season, making you really consider the story of Jesus's ministry and final week. Hamilton has a very easy writing style,and never claims to know it all. He certainly can get you thinking. Isn't that the point of Lent? I appreciated the history of the time, the geology lesson so to speak that Hamilton used to clarify Jesus's ministry. It was interesting to read about the topography, customs, etc. The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 stars is because it did not strike me as powerfully as 24 Hours did. Happy to have it though to alternate each year as my Lenten study.

Our church is using this book for a Lenten class lasting five weeks. It's only in its second week, but it was hard to put it down until finished. It is enhanced by the videos that accompany the book; Rev. Hamilton visits the locations in Israel where Jesus carried out his ministry. I really like Rev. Hamilton's writing style and how he adds interesting facts to Jesus' story that have not been part of what I've known previously about his life, death, and resurrection.

After having been the Israel/Palestine, I was trying to organize the experience so it would have the greatest impact on me and others with whom I spoke about my trip. This book helped me organize my experience in relationship to the ministry of Christ. It helped me better reflect on my travel experiences to better use them for spiritual growth and for teaching others. The only thing I would have done differently is to read it before I went, take it with me for reference and again check it once I returned and trying to organize my experiences. I haven't seen the DVD, but look forward to viewing that at some point also. At a future date, I'll probably use this book, along with my experiences in the Holy Land to lead a Bible Study.

Hamilton writes, in such a way, to invite you into the Gospel. He provides current examples of living through Christ's love and mercy. While the book is written for small group study, it can be read individually. I have been challenged and I have grown in my relationship with Christ because of this book. The best part of the book is the way it is written to be read and considered in small doses. The companion devotional book provides daily study and engagement with the word.

Adam Hamilton is an enjoyable author and I looked forward to reading another of his books. For someone searching or new to faith it would be an excellent read, however I was looking for some deeper insights that I had not previously considered. Still a very good read.

This is THE best book. Not just to lose weight, but as a way to eat and feel healthy. I lost over 60 pounds using this book and have kept it off for two years. I still eat this way most of the time. You are never hungry, you are always eating, but you WILL loose weight. I also improved my cholesterol readings as well.

I love all of the recipes and meal plan ideas in this book! The only reason it's not 5 stars is that is pretty dated (over 20 years old) and there is loads of new research that would be great to see incorporated into a new printing or something :)

This cookbook, like its successor Everyday Cooking, is filled with GREAT RECIPES. It's an ugly little book - no pictures - but it's well organized. The thing I like about the Ornish books is the recipes are so darned good. Even if you don't want to cook fat free, you can always add a little to your dish. His two cookbooks are two of my oft-used cookbooks for vegetarian meals. I highly recommend.

I think the information in this book is good and helpful; however, the editing in the Kindle edition is terrible. In any places where there should be "ri" there is an "n". For example when discussing nori seaweed - it has non seaweed. If a person did not know what the item was, it could cause confusion. A good book, but one star taken for poor editing.

Hi hum...same old info, nothing new. Every diet book says it’s based on science; low fat, low carb, eat like a caveman, high fat, high carb, lotsa rules for what to eat, when to eat, etc etc etc. I lost 129 lbs slowly over 3 years, have kept it off, using the tried and true, “move more, eat less”...hmm, wasn’t that the simplest way before “food experts” with their “science based” fad diets appeared? I first bought volume 1 for my nephew (ordinary American kid who knows practically nothing about Japanese culture) when he was 4. After 2 years + indifference, he finally found it really fun. So I bought volume 2 for his 7th birthday and he carries the book wherever he goes. He is now telling me "I will save my money I earn from doing chores and I will buy rest of the series by myself!"

This book helps me to study conversation in English. It's easy to understand and so much fun.

I have to tell a short story, i live on a country road and not much traffic. But one morning in the road was this old leather bond book with a few pages missing, no cover and torn up pretty bad. It was this book but and old one but with the same content. I'm a Territory Manager and this book had so many quotes and suggestion that i started using it. Now 6 months later i find myself needing this little book. So i got the Audio and the hard copy. If you are a sales leader or want to become one, you need this book. FYI, there is no downside to this little gem.

Needed this book for class, arrived promptly and in great condition.GREAT book for anyone looking to learn how to lead others. Unfortunately, leadership isn't something that all parents teach to their kids anymore, but this book will easily fill that void. FULL of good content that will help you grow as a person and as a leader. In teaching my kids how to be leaders, this is a book I will refer to often.

Dr. John Maxwell is an authority when it comes to any subject dealing with the huge and very seldom misunderstood topic called "leadership". I have close to 4 books from Mr. Maxwell, and I have to admit that he has exceeded my expectations in these previous materials, and 21 Indispensable Qualities of A Leader was no exception. Honestly, not too many authors have been able to accomplish what Mr. Maxwell has been able to do with his readers: keep them interested and hungry for more information. This book is an easy but yet very challeging read, not in a linguistic sense but in the sense that it compells the reader to rid himself of any preconceived notions he/she had about leadership.

I've read several of John Maxwell's books recently. I found this one to be especially practical. Many of the qualities presented had immediate actions that I could take with my team.I was so impressed with this book that I gave it to my managers for their Christmas present this year.

True to form, John Maxwell delivers a dose of leadership development using simple language, interesting stories, and insightful connections to make you think about your own leadership abilities. These are truly 21 indispensable qualities of a leader.

Product is good. Quick Delivery. BORING book. Full of a lot of useless fluff. Maxwell's worst book I have read.

I have given this book as a gift to more people than I can count. It is a strikingly insightful, engaging, useful book. The author writes humbly and wisely about his observations and deductions gained over many years of meeting, presenting and working with people.Read it, and read it again. Dip into it again every year for the rest of your life! You will not regret it. It not only helps you be the best you can be, it gives you x-ray vision into others' lives and struggles also - in a very good way. In a way that will make you less judgmental, more kind. more helpful and a better example yourself.

This is a wonderful primer on the most important leadership skills that can be learned and will improve a person's life dramatically if practiced. The chapters are short and entertaining and the lessons are powerful. I recommend that anyone who wishes to become a more effective leader read and apply the lessons in this book.
